So today at 1455 local, (2155Z) the connection to Larch mt HamWAN was lost. Is this the end? 73 de KD7RYY Marc
My connection to Larch is down as well. The DNR seems to have won out over emergency communications capability. Steve Marc Lacy wrote on 10/12/21 3:02 PM:

Not only that, BawFaw is also offline now since its sole feed was from Larch. Who is willing to go climb CapitolPeak tower and fix the broken cabling to bring BawFaw back online? For the Vancouver / Portland region, this isn't all that surprising of a result though. A region can't rely on just 1 cell site, as they will naturally come and go. Redundancy needs to be built up by the local hams over the years if continuous network availability is desired. I take this withdrawal of coverage as a sign that there wasn't sufficient interest in the region to make it happen. --Bart On 10/12/2021 3:14 PM, Steve - WA7PTM wrote:

For those not aware, Oregon HamWAN (https://www.oregonhamwan.org <https://www.oregonhamwan.org/>) has received an $88K grant from ARDC to establish HamWAN in the Portland area, with connections to PSDR and to Salem, Oregon. We have some equipment on hand, with more on order. We are working to negotiate contracts with various tower owners and to configure equipment. We were hoping to establish a connection through BawFaw. If there is anyone interested in assisting with our efforts, we would welcome your help. Herb Weiner, AA7HW Oregon HamWAN Project Manager

Hypothetical question: If one receives money from a third party which the third party obtained via conversion/fraud, doesn't that make the first party just as culpable as the third? -- Bryan Fields 727-409-1194 - Voice http://bryanfields.net
