Hello, This evening, Mike (KI7JBV) left a text with ramblings of a HamWAN presentation and needing slides. Does anyone know what he needs or wants? I responded and let him know that this disabled veteran just had surgery and was unable to respond to texts and phone calls. He has not responded. A quick google search indicates he is an ARES (Peninsula Amateur Radio Emergency Team) member in Washington. Does anyone know this guy? He seems very strange. Scott, N7DOD

Help needed for test connect to Capital Peak

Scott Dakers, the Station Manager for Camp Murray is looking for someone to do a test shot to Capital Peak from his QTH in the East Olympia area. CalTopo shows coverage from Baldi and Capital Peak, but local trees leave CP as the most likely option. With the coming install of Camp Murray later this month, he would like to see if he can get online in order to connect to the facility as well. Let me know if you have gear and are willing trek down to the south end (SE of Tumwater) to help Scott out. I'll pass your info along and the two of you can coordinate from there. Thanks, Rob

HamWAN setup week of July 4

Hello! I’m new to the seattle area, and planning on trying to link up to the HamWAN this week with the help of a friend who’s apparently done it before with a non-permanent link and a MikroTik SXT lite 5. I assume it's "rest of world", since he's had success before. My own RBLHG-5nD RoW should be delivered tomorrow, and I'll be pointing it from my house in Ravenna at around "47.675261 N 122.296587 W 266 ft" looking at Capitol park looks like I have 4-miles line of sight: https://www.heywhatsthat.com/?view=B8G29LXE Should I just be able to connect, using the instructions online? Do I need to register anything in advance, or will I just associate and get an address via DHCP? Any tips? looking forward to jumping in! Ryan Nelson K2RNA

Board Vote: New Dish for BawFaw - Nicolai

Tom installed a new 30db dish at Baw Faw to improve the link to Larch and provide a link to Nicolai. This helps support our effort to get the shoreline counties online. I propose that this is a HamWAN supported installation and that the use of that dish from our stock needs to be replaced by HamWAN. I call for a vote from the board on that matter. -Doug-

Constitution, and we were hoping to get some confirmation on that for our planning purposes. Is this true? Do you have any kind of timeline? Michele WB6F

Questions from a newbie

Hi Folks, I’m interested in joining the PSDR as a client node, but have a couple of questions: 1. Does anyone know how high above the ground the Capitol Park antenna is? I assumed 100 feet for the below. 2. I live in Bellevue, and a small area around my house is light red in the coverage diagram. Looking at http://wisp.heywhatsthat.com, it says I need to be 22 feet above the ground to get LOS to capital park. How accurate would you consider this? Would it be pointless for me to try to set this up if I can’t get up that high? I realize that putting up an antenna/hardware would really tell me this, but I’m somewhat reluctant to invest in the hardware if my chances of success are low. I suppose I could always create a portable setup if all else fails.[cid:image001.png@01D5269B.CF6E5B00] 1. Are there any other tower locations that would be better for me to look at? Board vote - Blynn dishes and stock replenishment

I just gave Bart the other 2 dishes I had in stock for the Blynn Mount trip he is making tomorrow. I am now out of dishes. I have not yet ordered the replacement for the CP-Buck dish. I am going to propose that we fund the 2 dishes being installed at Blynn by Bart. If this is not approved, he will reimburse HamWAN. I also propose that we buy a 4 pack of PA mount dishes and shield kits, 4 NetMetal5 radios, and an mAP-lite. Total cost including shipping from Streakwave is $1625 but I looks like I can get it from Baltic for about 300 less but with backorders on all items. I will try to talk Streakwave into a steeper discount, and otherwise go with Baltic unless there is a need for kit in a more timely manner. So board members, please let me know your vote on these two proposals. We had already approved the CP-Buck link dish assignment. I vote yea on the proposals. Voting to conclude 24 hrs from now per the bylaws. -Doug-

mikrotik availability in the future?

Does anyone know if the presidential order on telecom equipment imports affects mikrotik directly in imports or indirectly through the supply chain? I assume direct info would be hard to find but I'm curious what your general feelings and suspicions are about the future of equipment for hamwan in light of the chinese handheld radio ban for hams. Is it possible we can't even acquire this hardware at all soon? Robert(kd2iua)
